How to Enable Google Ads Campaign Tracking via gclid

203 views Less than a minute 0

Thanks to the Blendee module for Google Ads, you can track your advertising campaigns and customize the customer experience as soon as they land on your website.

To allow tracking, you must have enabled the Google click id: “gclid” parameter.
Gclid is a parameter that allows you to correctly tag a click from Google Ads.

In order to enable this feature, you need to sign in to your Google Ads account here .

From here, move to the Google Ads panel, click on “Account Settings” and check that automatic tagging is active as shown in Fig.1

(Fig.1)

Once you have verified that the encoding parameter is active (usually the parameter is active by default), simply move to the campaigns for which you want to activate tracking and click on “Additional Settings” as Fig.2

(Fig.2)

From the settings click on Campaign URL settings and enter the following Blendee tracking code

https://track.blendee.com/gclid?url={lpurl}&gclid={gclid} (Fig.3)

(Fig.3)

You can then add custom tracking parameters to the code above or Google’s optionals available on the relevant support page.

Example:

https://track.blendee.com/gclid?url={lpurl}&gclid={gclid}&campaign={campaignid}

In this specific case, the campaignid will be sent to Blendee on which any behavioral and/or contextual filters can be created on the page view.

With these simple steps, you can customize the experiences of users who come from certain Google Ads campaigns to your site through Blendee.
